I got to see it today with two of my friends (its better when you take chickens to the movies with you to see a scary movie)
All I can say is WOW. They stay true to the storyline and even reveal some parts about the game that I didn't understand while playing the game. Fortunately they found a way to add in everything you need to know so you don't really have to have played any of the games to understand the storyline of the movie.
Some downfalls are...
1. Its not the scariest movie in the world. I don't think it was really designed to compete with the top of scary movies but it still did a good job.
2. The movie did refer a little to the first game, so if you have not beaten it, you will not understand when the characters talk about Cybil (Police Officer) watching a guy drop a kid down a mine shaft. That is really the only two bad things about this movie.
Its got a VERY unique storyline that has some twists and turns which keep you guessing through the movie (if you havn't played the game of course.) If you have played the game, I think you will guess the twists pretty quickly.
My favorite part...They do an exceptional job on the graphics and acting. It is the first scary movie I have seen that had some good actors who are not so well known.
Of course Gore is abundant in this movie and I do not recommend letting your 11 year old brother/sister/son/daughter go see this.
Storyline: 8/10
Acting: 7.5/10
CG Animations: 9/10
Scariness Factor: 6/10
Staying true to the game: 10/10
Overall: 8.1/10
I hand it to Konami for making a game that is both great to play on the PS and to watch on the big screen.
So to end this, it is a movie that is worth the $4.50 to go see on the big screen, and for those who are big fans of the game, its worth going to see it a couple more times and then buy it on DVD. I know I will.
